Re: [Evolver] A wireless ZigBee Enabled Evolver???

2007-03-23 by Tom

MIDI is good but I'm inclined to go with CV right now. The ZigBee hardware platform I have
could be modified to do CV with out a huge effort. MIDI would take more time and there
already is a plethora of wireless MIDI, all wire substitution, USB, Bluetooth. Given my
situation I'm exploring if this is worth doing.

Unlike wire substitution ZigBee allows you to have the "wire" to join a network of things,
kind of like the internet but local. It is self aware and the network is self healing. ZigBee
MIDI would be a good thing too.

I was eyeing the CV ins and outs in the back of Evolver. To me that means that Evolver can
output CV to the world. Am I right on that? Can any control be routed to the CV outs and
ins through a matrix like I'm hoping? That would mean that Evolver can control or interract
with other CV compatable modules like any other analog synth. The ZigBee module would
be about the size of a cigarette pack now, much smaller later. It would plug into the CV ins
and outs. Other ZigBee plugs would go in other synth modules CV jacks. It would not be a
lonely guy but a part of the internet of things. Route CV signal from anybody on the
ZigBee mesh network to the Evolver. Could even take simulated CV from a ZigBee enabled
compuker if I could get someone to write that program.
