Sounds like you picked up a unit with a faulty rotary encoder on the
cutoff. You can try re-setting to factory settings, but I don't think
that's going to solve your problem as this sounds like a hardware issue.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
