I just heard from one one of the techs at DSI and he remembered having similar problems with the analog part of the EVo, similar to what I described, when it wasn't getting enough voltage(but the digital parts still worked fine). I tried switiching the MEK's power supply to the desktop and problem solved! I guess just the power supply is worn out.
