Sorry to brake it to you but it´s all about a userfriendly interface,
not realism in this case. You probably own an Ipod or mac and
understand why they are so popular. If we where talking about
modulating a vintage synth to VST a would totally agree with you.
But that´s not the case.
Right now the 4.0 beta it´s more complicated to use then the existing
version therefore the choice is quite simple for me. Even if the upgrade
should be free.
The previous version still lacks some basic features to be fixes that
I´ve e-mailed you some time ago.
- Drop down menues are showing numeric values istead of the right
options for different settings.
- LFO amounts doesn´t show sync values.
Cheers,
Magnus

Thank you greatly Magnus.I have forwarded this to programming and they will set up work sched. for those involve to go through your notes.;The one thing though that I believe won't change is knobs working on a radial basis instead of an up and down hidden slider implemention. We implemented this feature because we chose to make the knobs as realistic as possible. I hope you can live with this small detail.best regardsDerek

This are my first impressions:
1. Great to see that you have implemented the new signalflow layout but
if you haved tested it on a 15" screen you will see that part of the
layout is
outside the screen and you have to scroll to see it. The scroll
function in the
edit window doesn´t even work with my MacbookPro mousepad. I made a
new layout sketch (attached to this mail) that fits a 15" screen by ;
rearanging
parts to group them so they, in my opinion, make sense.
2. Rotating the knobs with the mouse is frustrating. I can´t just
klick and drag
the mouse up and down to change the value. I have to rotate around the
knob
center to do it. Not that user friendly.
3. I would like to see drop manues on, for ex. destination windows,
instead of the
separate window we have had on previous versions.
4. Sorry to pick on this, but the overall graphical implementation,
for ex. the knobs
and the brown envelopes in the signalflow layout doesn´t look fresh to
me. It´s 2008
and the evolver isn´t a retro synth. And you even forgot both the
evolver and
dave smith logo.
Looking forward to the finnished product,
Best
