I was going to write how Microsoft is dropping support for XP next year, and stopped supporting 98 in 1993, and then laugh at the sillyness of expecting SoundTower support on XP, but the SoundTower website clearly does state their Evo app works on Windows 98.
On a similar topic, I have an old laptop with Windows 98 and was wondering how I might make good use of it for playing live. The thing has USB ports and I have my old Cakewalk 2.0 disks. All I need is a MIDI interface and I'm ready to rock. What I don't have is a spare battery, so unplugs will be deadly. Anyone think it's worth the effort?

I'm not laughing. I custom built a Windows 98 music computer right
before XP came out and it keeps going. Most of my other music
equipment is older than the computer so it seems relatively young (and
upgrading/replacing would be $1500 to 2000 at a minimum for hardware
and software).

I've been considering the editor as a way to keep myself from buying a
MoPho so I finally installed it (on Win98) and get the exact same
thing. I have a custom wind controller bank installed in bank 2, but
that probably doesn't have names. Are you sure that every patch has a
unique name?
