I am indeed doing a Save As, and yes, I always choose the desktop first, then create a folder, etc... just like you suggest. But nothing, it doesn't get saved. 

And you're right, I wanna use the software at this point for bank management, although it has worked well in other regards I have to say.

It is just frustrating that I emailed DSI, as well as the Soundtower people multiple times and never got a reply...

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
