Re: [Evolver] PC Editor Beta

I've gotta say I'm impressed with this. I didn't think I needed it as I like
the UI but it made me try some different things with the sequencer I
wouldn't have tried otherwise and its nice to be able to try huge changes on
sliders so quickly (of course its the smaller changes that are usually most
interesting). Nice just to have a different view of things.

Its also very fast at backing up and sending banks and patches...
unfortunatley I just spent two days reorganising everything - this would
have made it much quicker

for me the piano midi input didn't work? anyone else?

the sequencer settings data is very slow to update

I've no idea how to use the waveshape thingy - I just made a horrible noise
with it and I didn't like the "send to" dialogue - those three little lines
are crappy - do they mean anything? can I do something like send an acoustic
sax sample?

all in all I'd buy it if it comes in below a certain price - so what IS the
price going to be?

Richard

Re: [Evolver] PC Editor Beta

as a follow up:

its not quite as intuitive as i thought - its odd that when I select say C33
I get the sound but the patch I have on screen reads C2 and doesn't change
when I select different patches from the bank - so If I select C33 and want
to save it to C34 I don't know how to do it - I'm scared of overwriting
something I want - I don't understand the full relationship between what I
see and what i hear

Genetics look rather interesting to say the least! the words morph, mutate
and random are always good to find on a synth - but think I might need a
help file to figure all that out!

looks like Dave hasn't finished messing with our heads yet!

BTW the Beta version of the Evolver PC Editor is available here -
http://www.midiedit.com/evolver/index.htm

Have at it and give Mark some feedback.

LOL! Figured that was the only way I'd ever get a PC editor.

this is a screenshot of a wave shape editor:
http://www.midiedit.com/evolver/evwav.jpg

I haven't downloaded and tried this software out yet. but is that editor
capable of assigning user editable waveshapes to the 96-128 waveforms of
oscillators 3 and 4?

Thanks :-)
Well, there is tons of music on my site (http://www.synthmusic.info). And I
used the Evolver in a few.
The latest song added in 2003 (Rainbow1) for example does all the
sequencing.

The Evolver is a very nice sounding synth. The analog part of it is my
personal favorite and I think it was a *brilliant* idea to make the
oscilator and filterpath a stereo one. THAT makes the sound many times tmo.
Specially with the heavy sequencing music I do, that works very well :-))

Regards, Boele

Cool! Looks almost like the wonderful AN1xedit from Gary Gregson...

evo no longer responding to midi??

2003-10-13 by blip

hello...

i upgraded my evo to 2.0 last night, and following ski's instructions with
MIDIOX, everything went great... except i can no longer play the evolver
over midi! the midi decimal point flashes, indicating note ons and offs
are being received, but the evo's making no sound... key transpose is set
to like -24, and trigger mode is set to ALL. midi rec is also set to ALL.
this goes for all patches, old and new... anyone have an idea what could
be wrong? or has the same thing happened to anyone else?

thanks for any help...

bleep.
out.
