Dave Smiths reply about our little Wishlist and Future Updates ;-)

DAVE: Thanks for the input. Hard to say when a version 3 might be done, especially since it requires a Poly Evolver update also. Some of these, like adding CCs, may be more likely; others, like highfrequency LFO´s (oxymoron) are unlikely. Glad you like the synth in the meanwhile. It's always the trouble with such instruments - it's hard to know when to stop! -Dave Mail to DAVE was: Hello Dave Smith! Lately there was a little discussion going on at Evolver yahoogroups and thoughts about possible future Updates. We decided to send you an email about that. You are maybe interested in peoples thoughts. Note that we are allvery happy owner of this great Synth. So this "wishlist" should not be understood as a "buglist" or anything like that. It´s too hard to describe suggestions in a few words so i attached the orginal messages below. Here are the headlines: -highfrequency LFO´s -16 steps on sequencer -extra assignable midi CC messages as modulation sources -more or unlimited modulation slots -alternate overlay;) -the double clicking -gate times for individual steps Please let us know what you think. You can reply to this mail and i will forward it to yahoogroups. Or mail there directly. However, Thank You for that awesome machine!!! YAHOO MESSAGES: <<<<<<<<<<<< I hope there will be further updates for the evolver.. Personally, I want faster LFO´s to make some nice Ring-/Frequency Moduation type sounds with it - mostly in combination with selfresonant filter . The regulary speed of LFO ends at 150... they should be at least four times faster imho ;) maybe there could be further steps implantated... like the switching at the glide feature... range 1,2,3,4 The DCO´s as modulation source doesn´t work that good because they are getting to trashy in the higher frequncies. ( ok, sometimes that can sound nice also ;) <<<<<<<<<<<<< I doubt this would happen (further revisions, that is) anytime soon... But if it were, the only feature that I wish the Evolver had was longer sequences. The ability to make, for example, sequence 1 handle the first sixteen steps and then sequence 2 the second sixteen steps (etc) would be excellent! <<<<<<<<<<<<< yes that would be nice but it would be better when "shift+Seq" would be used for that. there is no function so far being in seqencer shift mode... ...added to wishlist ;) ( i also doubt a update will come soon .. but who knows - maybe DSI is interested in people thoughts .. ) <<<<<<<<<<<<< well, TBH I'd still be happy if the OS was never updated but I'd like the capacity to map a handful of extra midi CCs as modulation sources - maybe an option to use one instead of pressure/pedal etc... this could open up the capacity of the evo as a windsynth amongst other things... my wx5 has 4 or 5 additional midi controllers which the evo can't currently use. <<<<<<<<<<< I like your ideas. You should email Dave. I sent him an email earlier about extra assignable CC messages and he responded. Use the email off his wepage. <<<<<<<<<<< yes... we should send a email in the near future. So people come up with some wishes or just some thoughts. I guess i speak for all evolver users when i say that i am still a proud and happy owner of this amazing synth. Any comments and suggestions could be inspirations.... Even for newer DSI gear. So far we have 3 things, right? -highfrequency LFO´s -16 steps on sequencer -extra assignable midi CC messages as modulation sources i remember someone was talking about "more or unlimited modulation slots" earlier. But things like that would are hard to do since the interface is limited to the actual synth architecture. Ok let me think...Maybe "modulation source number4" could be further enhanced... phew...complicated...but the display could be like this M4-OFF-SEQ1-SEQ2-SEQ3-SEQ4-LFO1-etc-etc M5-OFF-SEQ1-SEQ2-SEQ3-SEQ4-LFO1-etc-etc M6-OFF-SEQ1-SEQ2-SEQ3-SEQ4-LFO1-etc-etc M7.... M10000 i wish i could write my own OS ;) <<<<<<<<<<<<< ok, i would add..... 1. an alternate overlay for the evolver that labels it as an "environmental sound supressor/concentration enhancment sound generator"...this would make it suitable to use at work with headphones :) 2. double clicking a row select button should bring you into shift mode (currently, you have to double click the shift button, it would be much faster to just do the row button...even a tripple click would work for me). 3. cc's for other parameters. 4. gate times for individual steps would be nice (although you can do this with the envelope settings). other than these, i am compleltely in love with the evolver. i thought i would use it mostly with my windsynth, but i'm such a step sequencer junky (yes, i have a problem), that i can't stop programing sequencer patches! ...
