video patch

2004-09-23 by dirge99@yahoo.com

Hey everyone- I'm trying to find out what settings were used on two
particular patches demonstrated by Dave Smith on the Dec. 1 update
with a British firm. If you've seen the video, the one
under "experimenting" is what I'm trying to figure out. The first
one sounded like a siren going off with slow percussive hits. The
second was a frog like sound with swirling chain-dragging-on-the-
ground rattles w/delay. Two truly deep patches. They were very
industrial sounding. If anyone has clues as to how to achieve these
two patches, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the video. Can you tell us where to find a copy if
it's available?

If I can hear the two patches and identify them as being from the
presets, the "Evolutionaries" soundset, the extra OS2 bank, or some
of the other stuff I've worked on, I'll be able to tell you *exactly*
how they were done. If I don't recognize them, I may be able to get
a copy from Dave, or at least tell you the basic approach to program
them from scratch.

Hi-
Here's the link. Sorry it took so long to respond,
just moved to San Francisco, lots to do. The one
piece of gear I did bring with me (instead of boxing
and shipping at a later date) is my Evolver. So, the
video, it's the one called "experiment". Those two
sounds are what I'm looking to achieve. If you can
get a close approximation that would be cool. Thanks
in advance. Mark.

hello Mark,

Sorry but I am on digest and do not see the link in
your email? Maybe you have posted a follow-up message
and it just hasn't come across yet due to the digest.
Anyway let me know the URL and I'll try to help you
out or even send you an editor EVO file with an
approximation of the patch.

Thanks,

Shawn Cleary

Hi Shawn-
Holy shit, I'm sorry I totally forgot to put the link.
 Here it is.
http://www.synthservice.com/downloads.html
Sorry again, I'm sure you'll like the other parts of
the video. Those two patches on "experiment" are what
I'm looking to approximate. Thanks again. Regards,
Mark

Wow, that video is great. I'd like to know how he did that too. I
was trying to see if the sequencer was on. At first I thought it
wasn't because i couldn't see any lights but then I noticed in one
of the other videos the sequencer was definitely on but i still
couldn't see any lights.

Re: video patch

2004-10-15 by Modular Fan

hello,

Thanks for the link! Interesting vids.
I assume you're referring to the video clip with the
drones. Tip: lots and lots of feedback! Careful
manipulation of the digital delay lines. Overdrive.
I'll try to get more specific within the next day or
two. I need to sit down with the digital waves and try
to figure out if any were used in combination with the
analogue oscillators.

You know, if you want that specific patch I'm sure
Dave Smith will email it to you. Then you can really
check out what was used! Dave's a really nice guy. I'm
actually kind of surprised he doesn't monitor this
list, or maybe he does but replies in private. If you
want me to ask him for the patch send me an email.

Thanks,

Shawn Cleary
