" I am looking for the ultimate pad/atmosphere machine"

not wishing to diss the evolver family in ANY way, they do tight, punchy,
very defined and cutting sounds very very well, but for soft, smooth
undulating pads with extremely complex filtering possibilties I think the
Alesis Andromeda is probably far closer to what you are looking for... 16
voices allow for very complex layering as well

...but they are a lot more money! virtual analogue wise i'd say that the
ion / micron actually does a very very good job (my jupiter6 has not been
used since the ion turned up) or you could look at a wavestation with
something like the eowave analogue filter box. the ultimate beast would
have to be the hartmann neuron... in fact, i had an andromeda/a6 and neuron
layering stuff yesterday - 2 hours of damned good fun!

but i'd urge you to actually try the poly evolver though, as it can sound
amazing and could give you what you are after.

i'm really looking forward to getting the keyboards in at the store...
