sequencer not working? sometimes

sequencer not working? sometimes

2005-03-28 by J Lesser

hey there-

sometimes when i turn on the evolver, it seems as if the sequencers
are not targeting anything or they arent running or something. It
sometimes gets fixed if i turn it off and on.. or by random twidling
of the master knobs... does anyone have a list of default master
settings so that the evolver will play its own sequences? when i
bought the unit, the store gave me a printed out list of defaults..
which i seem to have lost - of course

thanks for any help

j

Mr. Lesser,

I haven't had the problem you describe, but I think I remember the
subject coming up here before. You might try searching the list archive
or, if that doesn't turn anything up, mailing Dave himself.

I love your music, by the way - keep up the good work!

Yours,
Tom

ok i got the answer from Dave. it was probably lock seq(??) - i am an
idiot, but here are the default settings for the little guy:

Program: x
Bank: x
Volume: 90
Transpose: 0
BPM: x (set by each program)
Clock Div: x (set by each program)
Use Pre Tempo: On
MIDI Clock: Off
Lock Seq: Off
Poly Chain: Off
Input Gain: 9
Fine Tune: 0
MIDI Rec: ALL
MIDI Xmit: ALL
MIDI Channel: ALL
MIDI Dump: x

It happened the same to me last week. I turned lockseq on accidentally
while changing programs, and I though I had lost all my patches. I
almost started to cry.

I revised the main settings (first row) on the Evolver, but when I
saw 'lock seq' I thought 'This must be 'on' or my sequences wont work'.
LOL! It took me some minutes before I gave it a try, turned it off and
everything worked again!

Yeah, I know, I'm a fool, but the best thing is it happened again
yesterday and it took me a while to figure it out again!

I'm usually grateful for this sort of scare -- it prods me into backing
up my data, which then later saves my ass when something really _does_
go wrong... :-)

Totally agree Miles, but you had to see my face during the 10 minutes
it took me to work it out. Man, I was completely broken, not funny at
all (:
