I think I have a problem...

I think I have a problem...

Recently I've been making tracks with just my Evolver. None of my
other gear sounds as big, as clean, as smooth or as "phat". I used to
only use my other gear and leave the Evolver in the corner staring at
me like a puppy dog that's been sent outside. I'd still have a great
time programming it, but when I'd try and put sounds I liked into
tracks, it would be like bringing your loud obnoxious friend to a
party who gets too drunk and keeps interupting conversations pissing
everyone off.

But a few weeks ago, when I was thinking about selling it, I decided
to write a track with only the Evolver and samples. And it sounded
great. Fresh even. And now I can't get enough. Sure, the whole "my
Evolver doesn't sit right in the mix" is still a concern, but when
it's pretty much the ONLY thing in the mix with some drums and a few
other bleeps or the occasional bassline from other synths, it sounds
fantastic. And it works really well with the big drum sounds I've been
getting lately.

I'm worried, because all of a sudden I'm really enjoying the tracks
I've been writing, instead of feeling a bit "meh" about them. But I
don't want to rely on one synth for my tracks. I'm also wondering how
my DIY Soundlab synth is going to get on with the Evolver when it's up
and running again. Do you think the EV will be jealous??

And to top it all off, now I'm eyeing off my G2 Engine, BCR2000 and
the mono Evolver to buy a PEK. Help!!

Sounds more like a solution.

People rely on one guitar all the time. If you can make the instrument speak who cares if
it's the only thing you use. Maybe you finally found your muse :)

Haha, yeah I know, I was just mucking around. I got a bit excited
after I came to realise how much better and more frequently I've been
composing now I've been using the Evolver in mixes. But I just don't
want my stuff to get too "Evolver-y" if you get what I mean. And if I
sell this gear I hardly use and get the PEK, then that exactly what's
gonna happen. Ahhh, decisions decisions...
