Finally...

Finally...

...its here!!!!

I just received my DSI Polyevolver and its sweet!

One little niggle though...when I got it, I noticed that whoever had
assembled it had neglected to remove the manufacturer's scratchguard off
of the face of the LCD...it was wavy, bubbled and wrinkled but, of
course, it was behind the Lexan faceplate! Besides being annoying, it
actually hindered the display's visibility.
To remove it I had to disassemble the Evolver:
1) remove screws and pull off top plate
2) unplug all ribbon cables
3) unscrew and remove main board
Now I finally had access to the display board...
4) remove display board screws and spacers
5) carefully pop display off of the sticky side of the Lexan
6) peel off offending crap
7) do all the above steps backwards...eep!

Okay, two niggles...The knobs wouldn't stay on after about ten minutes
of use so I wedged one layer of tissue paper between the flat side of
the pot shaft and the knob bodies.

Okay, that being said you guys must think I'm going to say it sucks?
NO WAY. This thing ROCKS!
It has that "Prophet" roughness that I love in my P600 but can almost be
as polite as my Nord modular or as *whacked* as my Serge depending on
the patch. For a moment I thought it was broken as I started to demo it,
the patches were so rough! Then I started to suss that there were realms
of subtlety available as well. This is VERY flexible!
Four voices are more than enough for now - this thing is FAT!
I LOVE IT!!!
Its not just that this synth is a "keeper" for my studio, its *unique* !
Expect it to be prominent in my next few songs.

Thanks Dave!

BTW - Hi everybody!

Best Regards, James
