PEK Updates

PEK Updates

2005-08-10 by Tony Scharf

Have any software updates been released for the PEK yet?

My particular unit has some bugs that I know Dave is aware of, but I
dont keep up on the updates as they come out.

If Dave would update the PEK to be able to send MIDI CC's from it's knobs
then I would buy one of those in a second as well to go with my PER. Just
don't have room for another keyboard that can't control anything else except
the PER or EVO. If it could send CC's than it would make a fine replacement
as a controller allowing me to save some space.

I'm waiting too, Tony.
Dave is aware so I figure it'll happen before too long.
Just hang in there :)

I am curious to hear what problems you are having with your PEK

Mine seems to work great...but it doesn't hurt to be on the lookout for potential
problems...

There are two specific ones that are actual bugs. the rest are just
operator stupidity..

1. When using 'LFO Sync' to lock the phase of the LFO to each key
stroke, sometimes I have to save a patch a couple times before it
actually saves that I have turned it on.

2. in performance mode, if I switch between 'active layers', the knobs
do not get reset with the last known value for the newly active layer,
but will 'jump' to the last value the knob had under the last active
layer (i.e. patch 1 has an FC at 100, patch 2 has an FC at 25....if I
adjust patch 1 while its the active layer to an FC of 120, then switch
to patch 2 patch 2 will sound fine until I try to edit its FC, at which
point the FC will jump to 120 and then begin editing from there).

Thats it. The other things Ive run into are ergonomic issues, a few of
which dave has said he would correct in the next update.
