Well, I don't have the update still but I think that with these CCs you can record and send automations on your software sequencer what is really much usefull and easy to edit than recording sysex.

I'm confused, am I missing something? I don't get - these CCs are
preassigned?? - what use is that? I wanted just plain CCs which could be
used as mod sources, so I can assign them myself to whatever I want. This
is just for adding a few knobs right? boring ... I can't even use the extra
CCs on my yamaha wx5 breath controller

This implementation is urhh, adding nothing creative and, dare I say it
,undavelike!!

actually most of my modern synths (nord micro, nord G2, alesis andromeda) do
have freely assignable CCs. This is incredibly flexible when using esoteric
midi controllers like wx5, synthophone, qchord etc which don't have much
innate flexibilty

my dream was for the evo to become the (only) modern great analog windsynth,
but for this to happen, CCs like 16, 17, 18, 80 and 81 need to be freely
assignable - I guess this will never happen now

oh well, I still luuurcv my evo, but yes i am dissappointed

Yes. CCs don't clog the MIDI stream like sysex does. Now the most important Evolver parameters are easily accessible remotely - a blessing for those with the PER. Anyone with a MIDI controller keyboard with lots of knobs or a MIDI sequencer will be grateful!

Like most CCs in most synths, yes they are. :)

Since I am one of those with a PER and a programmable Midi controller I
highly agree, my upgrade has been ordered :)

yes, the G2 and Andro (and many others) have *some* mappable parameters.
but not *all* there parameters (not even the g2). some are hardwired.

I dont think thats a failing of the synthesizer, but rather the
controller. The controller should have the flexibility to allow you to
choose what it sends to match what its playing into. I dont think you
could convince me otherwise.

as a work around, you could use some software to translate the CC#s as
you wish. I think logic used to do this via the environment, but I
never really tried it.

Logic can do this. Another solution that is cross platform is Bidule - it is in beta, and there should be a free download of it. It's very easy to set this up in Bidule.

And if you prefer hardware solutions you might check out the Midi

(Disclaimer: I have not used this device, but have contemplated
purchasing it)
