Not all of the 3.o features (like LFO Sync)are availibe in the current soundtower,,, i had an exchange of emails with the developer in regards to that and several issues that i had w/ the current version, like the copy/ paste keyboard commands and several other things not working as advertised. He finally replied to me that he would "address these issues" when he makes the next realese. I made the mistake to take this as "correct the issues", however when i wrote back to thank him he was quick to correct me that he only ment he would look to see if these issues existed when he sat down sometime in the future to work on the next release and in the meantime he had no intention of helping w/ the problems i'm currently encountering. 0 customer service, also kinda rude, im almost temped to post the series of emails i exchanged w/ him here. Im hoping the guy is able to roll everything together an finally release a solid version, but in the meantime im personly pretty disatisfied with the editors functionality, it kinda works, but not like its made out to. Im suprised that DSI,being so great, choses to affiliate it self w/ such a sub-par product w/ sub-par customer service. --- In DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com, "Miguel Mendoza" <miguel@f...> wrote: > Also for me. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Scott Kellogg > To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 7:48 PM > Subject: Re: [Evolver] evolver version 3 and soundtower editor ? > > > It works fine for me. > > On Sep 6, 2005, at 12:45 PM, matsag21 wrote: > > > Hi Gene, thanks for your input. > > > > Anybody else used the soundtower editor with the evolver version 3 ? > > > > thanks > > > > mathieu > > > > --- In DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com, "Gene Schwartz" <implode7@c...> > > wrote: > > > >> I was using it yesterday without an issue. > >> > >> -----Original Message----- > >> From: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com > >> [mailto:DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com]On > >> Behalf Of matsag21 > >> Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 7:00 AM > >> To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com > >> Subject: [Evolver] evolver version 3 and soundtower editor ? > >> > >> > >> Hello guys, > >> > >> I would like to update my evolver to version 3. but before doing that > >> i would like to know if the new version works as well as the > >> version 2 > >> with the soundtower editor. > >> > >> could some of you with version 3 and using the editor feedback to me > >> on this ? > >> no problems with the lfos for instance ? > >> > >> many thanks > >> > >> mathieu > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> Yahoo! There are a host of bugs in Soundtower, and it's true that the developer isn't very responsive. That being said, the app mostly works. I'd like to see someone else develop a better app. I'd buy it. /Scott

ha! ...we need to post issues about soundtower again? I'm sure dave would be aware already, but that probably doesn't change much as it's already out there. The reason I don't own the evolver soundtower editor is that I own the microwave1 soundtower editor, and it's totally irritating in its unfinishedness to the point that I'd never trust him to provide another piece of software I'd pay for. And I think myself and a bunch of annoyed evolver editor users have already pointed out the utterly irritating unfinished state of the software, and the lame idea of customer service that he has. Now, bring on the vysor editor! http://www.psicraft.com/Products/index.php I've been ready to buy that damn thing for a year now. I hate TC for taking them off their evolver project! It's the thing that stopped me making an evolver editor my very first visual studio C++ app at home last year.. now I wish I'd just clunked something together and put it out there ....I'm not claiming to be able to write a $50 piece of software, but I reckon in a couple of months I could have made something for free that would kill the soundtower evolver editor, at least on functionality for editing patches! hmm... I wonder how long the vyzor one is going to be before its ready? I had to ask for a refund for the previous soundtower editor. IMO the guy is overworked and doesn't have the time it needs, plus he's a bit defensive... the current version works much better but hmm, I'm waiting for something better as well. BTW Has anyone tried the soundtower Wavestation editor? Richard ----- Original Message -----

I basically find the Evolver editor to be pretty good (compared to other editors, for instance), but I had to return the editor the microwave xt. I couldn't get clear responses from the developer about what the issue was, and it took a frustratingly long time before I could get email responses from him. He seemed to be saying at first that he didn't experience my issues, but ultimately said that he couldn't fix it within a reasonable amount of time, so he did return my $. I told him over and over that I just wanted to figure out what was going on and whether we could get it to work. Ultimately, he did return my money without complaint.

Hi Julian & Co., Psicraft is now tying up loose ends with regards to online documentation of our just-released TC-Helicon Vyzors and then we'll be fully back into development of Vyzor Evolver. I'm going to contact Dave Smith within the coming week to arrange purchase of a PolyRack and the Evolver 3.0 upgrade chip for our mono Evolver. Once these arrive we'll be able to develop Vyzor Evolver so that it supports the whole family, from original tabletop versions running the 2.0 OS to the latest P.E.K.s. Incidentally, Vyzor Evolver will permit the assignment of CCs to control any editable parameter, whether or not you have version 3 firmware. This is only one of the dozens of unprecedented features we've built into it, and these extras are part of the reason this project is taking so long for us to complete. We're targeting a December release. I'll keep this group appraised of developments as they occur.
