Evolver + Behringer BCR2000

Evolver + Behringer BCR2000

2005-09-13 by kal1mar1

Has anyone tried out a combination of an Evolver with a Behringer
BCR2000
(http://www.synthtopia.com/synth_review/Behringer/Behringer-BCR2000.html)?

This would seem to give more direct/immediate control over the Evolver
sound palette - especially good/useful in live applications.

I am considering getting and Evolver but the thing which stops me
diving in is the matrix approach to editing (I owned a Waldorf Pulse
for a while and although it sounded great it was a pain if you needed
to tweak 2 parameters on different matrix pages simultaneously) and
this may hamper the control which I have in a live environment.

Does anyone else here use their Evolver live? How do you find it if
you need to edit the sound drastically on-the-fly?

If there was an option of a deluxe Evolver similar to a Poly Keyboard
but without 4x synths and the keyboard I would have no hesitation... I
can't be the only person who needs simultaneous access to multiple
parameters?

Thanks all

No, but I do use my Remote 25 with it. It doesn't really have enough
knobs to cover everything, but the sliders are good for envelope changes,
and the knobs take care of osc levels and pitch as well as some effects.
Unfortunately there's no CCs for LFOs, but this does make doing stuff
live a bit easier.

ya. it works... ok. works swell with all the new midi parameters but
its learn function is no good for sysex strings... which means all
those tasty lfo assignments are left out. I tried to loearn from the
peavey pc-1600, to no avail... but still monkeying.

also, i learned after purchase, that the evolver does not mirror midi
out so the bcr does not automatically reflect the positions of
parameters on the evolver, as it would with, say, Ableton Live.

But it is a fairly sturdy unit and fun to muck about with. And for the
price....
