Did the countdown proceed all the way to the end as described in the instructions. Several people had the countdown stop at some point, with results like yours. I did at first, also. (assuming yours didn't go all the way to the end)

I think that in all cases it was solved by sending the sysex more slowly. In my case (windows xp, midiox) I had to turn off all other connections but the evolver, and then it worked.

If it's really going all the way to the end, and still registering 2.1, I don't have a clue. You could email or call Dave - he's usually pretty quick to respond.

No it didn't stop, it run smmothly.
As far as sending the sysex more slowly, that's what
i think is the problem. But there's no way to change that with
the sysex utility i use.
Sysex Liberian:

Maybe that's the problem.

Can someone suggest a free sysex utility for Mac ?

There's no setting in it referring to something like time between packets, or bytes, or however it's worded for sysex?

I'm having a similar problem. I just installed the 3.0 chip correctly
and tried updating with midiox. Mine counts down from 59 to 0 then
displays 96 and freezes. I've tried increasing the delay between
buffers but that doesn't help :(

I'm gonna email dave - I'll post what he says here.

Re: [Evolver] Can't upgrade to DSP 3.0

Hey,
Max I'm confused as to why you say that the 3.0 chip
is already installed, when the DSP software needs to
be installed first?

What worked for me was to use the sysx function from
within Sonar. Might be worth trying...

I imported the .syx file Evolver_DSP_3.00 into a Sysx
Bank. Then i sent the sysx bank to Evolver.

If the speed is too fast, you can adjust settings to
make it transmit Sysx data more slowly. I did not
have to make any adjustments.

Good luck!
Drew

Ahhh yes, and therein lies the problem - I was too eager and put the
chip in first before updating the DSP :s

Thanks for the help Drew!
