newbie-ish routing question

newbie-ish routing question

2005-10-05 by wilsontherocker

Hello all.

Yesterday I was trying out some of the programming tips on Carbon111's
evolver page, and there is one tip for fatter basses that uses
envelope 3 in a constant on position, meaning zero attack, full decay,
sustain, and release. I ended up fiddling around with several
destinations of this 'constant on' envelope.

One of the most interesting destinations was to 'envelope all amount.'
Suddenly, the filtered sound was very bright, much more so than when I
routed env-3 to just the filter envelope amount. Overall, it was a
pretty big sound. I wondered if env-3 was just overriding the filter
envelope and leaving the filter constantly open, but I noticed I could
still hear the attack of the filter envelope. After adjusting the
env-1 attack, I was sure I was still hearing its effects.

Could someone please explain what exactly is going on here? What am I
hearing? What gives it this "bigger" sound? I'm having trouble
visualizing the effects of this routing. If it matters, there was a
little bit of resonance (around 13).

To summarize, Envelope 3 in a constant on postistion routed to
Envelope All Ammount: what exactly is this doing?

Cheers
