Flashing dot in display

Flashing dot in display

2006-01-30 by Andrew Capon

Hi Everyone,

My evolver has just arrived and I was wondering what the little flashing
dot between the 2nd and 3rd digit on the display signifies. When I first
connected the unit it was flashing very quickly, now it has disappeared!

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

it's the MIDI recieve indicator. Check page 7 of the manual (well, page
7 of my 2.02 manual at any rate!)
:-)

"Note - the right decimal point in the display flashes whenever anything
comes
in MIDI input jack. Note that it flashes even when MIDI input is disabled."

if it's flashing steadily, very very fast (almost too fast to see it's
actually flashing) then chances are it's recieving a MIDI clock signal,
which would mean it's flashing at 24ppqn of whatever tempo of whatever's
sending the clock data. Otherwise it could be recieving active sense
messages , or note messages, or anything on the MIDI bus.. not
necessarily just data on its own chanel, either...

actually, I already knew what the dot was for, and even then it took me
a fair bit of searching through the manual to find it.
:-)

The manual definately does help with a basic understanding of what the
synth is and what it can do - only it's much more fun to tweak the
parameters and just play with it.
