Evolver Resonance!!

Evolver Resonance!!

2006-02-24 by digitaldisko

I am very sad to say that my Evolver has stopped functioning correctly. I am very good at
program this synth so I know that no LFOs and the third envelope are turned on. The
transpose and fine tune are also at zero. So my problem is that when I have the 4-pole on
and all oscillators at zero, with the resonance at 100, I get a strong beating where the
resonance will go up in down in timbre and this will speed up as I go up the keyboard. I
have an example I recorded, but I don't know where to post it..so anyone who wants to
help and hear the example please email me @ sdanuser@... and i'll send you the
audio file. I don't know what to do..it was working fine yesterday!

Thanks everyone,

Scott

I think I figured out the problem. The beating occurs when I have my new (2 mono male
to 1 mono female) Y cable connected to the left and right out..but when I take one of these
connections out, it works fine. Does anyone know why my resonance was beating when I
have both left and right out plugged into one mono 1/4 cable?

I think when you sum it to mono that way, you're getting phase
cancellations between the left and right channels because they have
separate filters that are not exactly the same.

It is hard to say without hearing a sample. It may just be that the resonant frequencies of the filters are slightly diffrent. Remember, it is a compleately diffrent filter on the left and right. And since they are analoug, the frequencies will vary slightly. I think the tollerance is 5%. So that would explain why the beating changes with the keytrack.

Relax. Yahoo! Mail virus scanning helps detect nasty viruses!

He's using a dual mono to mono Y cable - he's **shorting** the left and
right outputs together.

You can't mix audio with a Y cable - not without feedback, distortion
and other nasty artifacts. Not to mention damage to the gear itself...

For sale or trade: pek (probably)

2006-03-01 by Gene Schwartz

I've already posted here about ths issue that I have with it. I just
received it Friday, so it really is 'as new'.

I'm looking at a large restocking fee. I got this at a pretty good price, so
if you're looking for one, send me an email. There might be a slight bit of
haggling room as regards returning this, so I'm not posting a price here
yet...

I'm looking to get an Andromeda. So, a trade for a good condition Andromeda
would be welcome also.
