PEK bug? Trigger Select/Modulation with sequencer

PEK bug? Trigger Select/Modulation with sequencer

2006-03-13 by jocoltrane

Hello everybody.
my name is Raffaele and I'm a proud PEK owner (sn 00198).

I was programming a sound today and found out a bug:
I wanted to do a poly Square Pad with the Filter modulated by
sequencer values (simple, no?).
I'm in program mode
I set the filter cutoff @ 55 and put seq1 destination to LowPass.
Trigger Select: Keyboard Only (don't want the seq to trigger envelopes).
What happens is that seq "mutes" the first voice, and the other 3 are
uneffected. The light of the first voice is always off
So I tried keys and seq and realize that in that modes the seq
triggers only the first voice, and the pitch for the first voice is
not "pitched" by the keys. Also, no filter mod on voices 2 3 & 4.
Obviosly Seq only triggers only voice one.
Using Key, Gates Seq I have the modulation working with all four
voices, but seq triggers also envelopes, so there's no way to have a
pad sound.

Seems to me that there's a constant link between seq and voice 1,and
there's no way to get sequencers to work as modulator without having
them also triggering.
it's a bug, isn't it? is this a common thing, or it happens only to me?

Thanks

I've sent the same mail to Dave Smith support address and got the answer:
It's the normal machine behaviour, and this (the modding seq, without
triggering) can possibly be one of the next software update, since it
was requested by other people too.
cheers to everyone
Raffaele

Raffaele,
It appears (at least to me) that the trigger select -> keyboard only feature has no
purpose under program mode, except to steal a voice and render it useless. However, I
have found that it works perfectly (or at least, as you expect it to) under Combo mode.
Program your sequence and save it as a patch, then go to combo mode and make part 1
polyphonic 4-voice, and use the program you'd saved. Make sure to select the 'trigger
select -> keyboard only' in the combo menu, and there you go. Still trying to figure lots of
stuff out here, but that one should provide a temporary solution until DS makes it an
update.
Enjoy,
-Mark
