wavesequencing and user waveforms

2006-04-27 by Mikael Altemark

Hello fellow critters!

Today I decided to experiment a little bit with the wavesequencing
possibilities of the Evolver, hoping to do some pseudo-wavescanning a la
microwave. I sampled 8 single cycle waveforms from my Syntecno Teebee at
various resonance levels and uploaded them into the Evolver.

However it seems that it is not possible to go over an amount of 100 in
the sequencer when it is assigned to the waves of the digital
oscillators, which makes it hard to do what I had thought to. The
wavedump utility by Darren Richards only allows uploading waveforms from
slot 97 to 128. I think this has been brought up on the list before but
I don't think this was picked up on. Is there any way around this, or is
it just something that might be made possible with later updates of the OS?

On a side note, I had some problems with my 3.0 upgraded Evolver, which
some mail correspondence with Dave solved quickly. DSI really cares
about the customers! :)

Evolving regards
Mikael Altemark

I might not understand how this works so if this comes out all wrong,
well i apologize ahead of time.

In the digital osc section shouldn't you be able to set the initial
shape to 97? If you could do that, then wouldn't that make zero in
the sequencer equal to 97. So 97-128 = 0-32 for the seq.

Can someone try this out to confirm. Hope I'm not talking nonsense.

If I recall correctly, when using the digital-osc "shape sequence"
parameter, the numbers coming from the sequencer are used "absolutely",
not added to the oscillator's shape parameter.

[Quite annoying too, I think; I'd love it if that got fixed!]
