I haven't tried it yet, but is velocity set to zero too? And what serial number is your unit?

Did anyone else experienced the following bug?

When the VCA env amount = 0 and VCA level = 0, the VCA still gets triggered by the VCA env.

And when this happens you hear the digital fuzz problem that many of you already described on this list.

You could try it yourself. Just dial up patch 128 in Bank 2, it's a very simple patch. It's got the VCA env amount = 0 and the VCA level = 0 values by default.

I noticed that when I raised the VCA env amount to 100, the digital fuzz problem dissapeared almost completly.

David

There may or may not be an actual bug, but Ravi makes a good point.
In addition to the VCA velocity setting, there are quite a few other
parameters that could be modulating (i.e. raising) the VCA level.

Also keep in mind that even if the initial VCA level and the VCA
Envelope sustain level are both set to zero, the Envelope IS still
going to be triggered by every "note on" message. Theoretically,
that situation should still result in absolute silence, but in
practice, you might hear a little low level noise or glitch,
especially with analog circuits.

Good discussion topic, though, David. I'll give it a try myself on
old #00009 when I get to the house.

Guess I posted the message too soon.
Velocity was indeed modulating the VCA.

But, gaining the VCA did improve the digital fuzz problem...

cheers,
David
