Neither the PEK nor the Desktop have a audio mix input, it is present only
in the rack versions. THe normal audio inputs are for processing of external
audio via the Evolver's synth engine, not suited to mix the audio outs of
different units.
You have to connect both the audio outs of Desktop and PER to a mixing desk.

Re: [Evolver] Poly Chain Question

I would imagine you HAVE to have the mono evolver as well as the PEK on their OWN separate channels on the mixer. Audio signal for each voice is created in each synth. ie the first 4 voices are created on the PEK & go to the PEK's outs and the 5th voice is created on the desktop and to through its own outs. That is not a work around that is simply how it is done. Audio for the first 4 voices are not transmitted to the desktop via the midi cable - only the midi data is (ie patch info, note on/off, voice number etc...). Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Subject: [Evolver] Poly Chain Question

Hi

I'm trying to poly-chain my PEK to my desktop Evolver, and I'm not
getting audio from the PEK.
I've followed the instructions as follows:

Connected a MIDI cable from the Poly Chain Out to the MIDI In of the Desktop
Set Poly Chain to 5 on the PEK
Connected the Mix Out of the PEK to the Audio In of the Desktop
Connected the audio out of the Desktop to my mixer
Set the MIDI Clock to"OUT" on the PEK
Set MIDI Clock to "IN" on the desktop.

Software is 3.0 for the desktop.
I think it's 1.0 for the PEK (which I believe is up to date-not sure how
to check this).

When I play the PEK, I'm only hearing the voice of the Desktop
(basically, every fifth note that I play).
When I connect the PEK to it's own separate channel on the mixer, I hear
all of the voices.

This works as a workaround, but I'd rather not use up 2 more channels on
my mixer.

Is there something obvious that I'm doing wrong?

thanks,

Joe

Typo. I menat: You have to connect both the audio outs of Desktop and PEK to
a mixing desk.

Thanks for clearing that up--it was unclear in the manual.

Hi,
Also the levels of the PEK and desktop outs are different, compensate on your mixer after moving the master volume knob on the PEK which syncs the volume on the two devices.
Cheers

Andy
