does MEK "click"?

does MEK "click"?

2008-02-05 by robotunes

hi...

on the desktop evo, you can turn a knob one click and see a parameter's
value without editing the parameter.

does the MEK respond similarly? if not, how do you view a parameter's
value without changing it? the manual does not mention this. please
tell me there's a way to do this, as i really want the MEK but would by
happy buying the desktop again.

also, does the desktop have an arpeggiator like the MEK? the desktop's
web pages and manual do not mention an arp.

thanks...

yes you can turn a knob 1 click to see it's setting w/o editing.

and you can 'arpegiate' with the sequencer.

the MEK is pretty much the MED with a keyboard and more knobs.
they have the same engine.
same with the PEK as far as I can tell.
(minor differences)

Does the MEK definitely "click" like the MED, but unlike the PEK?

I was at two different stores playing the PEK last weekend and those
two definitely did not "click" (which kind of bothered me since I'm
used to the MED).

it clicks.
i think I'd prefer no click because these encoders are about my least favorite.
they dont react well when you really crank them.
however, it does't take away from the awesomeness of this synth!

No! The MEK doesn't click!

You can however see the current value by twisting the knob only
slightly, sort of like on the MED but without the actual click.

When you write "click" do you mean "detents?" Encoders with detents
click with each value. Without detents a knob is smooth when you turn
it.
