MEK, PER, Combo Mode
2008-04-16 by Iain Bryden
Hello,
I just ordered a Poly Evolver Rack and it is on route to me right now. I own an MEK and I'm curious about the limitations it has in controlling the rack with combo and program modes. From what I've read, programs on the Poly can be in either combo mode or program mode. So switching to one program may allow me to play 4 note chords, while another program may give me a split with bass in one hand and 3 notes in the right. I imagine this working well with a controller keyboard, but how does it work if my controller is a Mono Evolver Keyboard?
If I'm in combo mode which part in the Rack will the Evolver Keyboard knobs control? Is there a way to assign this, if for example, I want the knobs to tweak a lead, but not the bass, or vice versa?
How does the Evolver Keyboard poly chain out fit into this? It seems the purpose of that whole poly chain system is to get more voices in program mode. But what about more voices in combo mode? Won't the Keyboard always play a note across all the keys?
Do I need to implicity change the poly chain settings on the keyboard every time I swich modes in the Rack?
