sequencer MIDI in/out - Re: [Evolver] Re: How good is the sequencer?

One more thing, RE MIDI notes in/out of the evolver sequencer....

The pitch of the oscillators you hear is not always related to the pitch of
the sequencer tracks, due to the huge number of options available in the
evolver mod routings, and oscillator basic pitch settings, etc... So while
MIDI out for the evolver sequencer could theoretically work, a lot of the
time you might find that the MIDI notes you would see not seeming to make
sense, compared to what you hear.

Also, MIDI notes are not always the best info to send out for each sequence
track (I've never programmed a patch with all 4 tracks just doing oscillator
pitch info) as you can program the synth to use the sequencer tracks for all
sorts of things. in that case, how would the evolver know what to do with
all the information played back into it when you want to do that? would it
send notes for sequence one, and Sysex for the parameters being changed by
sequences 2,3 and 4?
what if 2,3, and 4 are oscillator pitch, and you stop the external sequencer
in the middle of a pattern, then save the patch on the evolver? you would
have permanently transposed the other oscillator tracks then.... and if you
send MIDI notes for tracks 2,3,4 will they need to be on diferent MIDI
channels?

Lots of questions for people to consider, about how would they like the MIDI
in/out of the sequencer to work..... no wonder dave left that stuff alone...
