Problems with the Tetra/Soundtower

2009-09-22 by prof_lofi

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this has been discussed (search isn't working with yahoo groups at the moment), but I wanted to check if anyone else was having difficulties with the Tetra in combination with the soundtower pro-software?

I am and have been dealing with their technicians for a couple of weeks now, but wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing problems and if they might have sorted any workarounds?

Basically, the usb isn't working in conjunction with the Genetics function of the editor, which is why I bought the editor (and to be honest, the synth). It does 'sorta' work with the midi, but I already use a midi to usb Maudio Uno to connect my evolver, so I'm a bit unsure if I can use two M-uno's at once. Does anyone know before I buy a second one?

Until it's sorted, it looks like either way I'll have to buy another midi-usb adapter (which is rough considering what I just spent), but I'd like to know if I should just get a double adapter or risk the computer recognizing two uno's and not getting them confused.

Thoughts, or comments (sorry again if this has been posted),

Bill

ps...the sounds though-EXCELLENT.

I've had some confirmation that there are USB issues though Mark and Larry at soundtower are rechecking. They've been very helpful and I thought I'd share a couple of points of clarification about how the genetics work on the tetra via Mark here in case anyone else comes across the same issue/confusion etc, so here's some info on how the genetics at present work on the tetra:

There are certain principles guiding Genetics,

1) Mommy is always a basic source of sound. It is Daddy that changes it.
2) In the T4 editor only one Mommy's voice (or a layer in Program mode) is modified at a time.
3) "Work on Layer" buttons specify which Mommy's layer/voice is being modified.

Selecting Layer A or B or anything for that matter in the editing panel has no affect on Genetics. However, the edit panel will show changed layers. For example if you select "Work on Layer" B and set the edit panel to layer A - the edit panel will show that there are NO changes. If you set the edit panel to layer B - you will see layer changing by genetics.

....

Mark related that there were a few other fun tweaks coming, but thought I'd share this for the meantime (even though this is the 'evolver' forum, sorry for annoying anyone who was thinking that! :)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
