A louder sound would imply a bigger hit which I have seen on the rim
of the snare if you hit the centre as well.  Crosstalk from something
else could possibly make it louder, but you don't usuually get much
crosstalk to the kick.  I am not sure how much use the bar graph is,
but if you go into edit trigger mode and scroll down a page you can
get a percentage which may be useful.
