RE: Hi hat pedals

1999-12-12 by Sanctum@xxxxxx.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Brett,
Read about the Pintech dual zone systems in their response to me on the subject.

As for the hi-hat pedal, I get a lot of trouble with it too. It plays realy different to a real hi hat, you have to open it up well before the strike, I've got the heal splash at arround 70 and the sensativity cranked all the way up. But still I find I occasionally miss an open sound, because I didn't raise my foot in time. It would also be real nice to have a "lock down" option on the pedal, so the unit could work as if you had a drop clutch fitted, a simple side slot in the plate would allow you to push the pedal down, then across to lock it, I may look into cutting mine up and building something like this in.

Here's a question. I think the hi hat pedal has three zones, closed part open and open, but on my pedal the part open is a tiny spot on the travel and with the pedal as loose and weak as it is I can't hold it in the part open zone. But when you look through the voice menu, there are only voices for opwn and closed, am I mistaken, are there only two main voices (ignoring heal splash), any one else experienced this third zone?

I think I'm going to uprate the spring under the footplate to give me more solidity. If I work out what gauge or strength of spring to use I'll post it up here, just in case you guys are interested.

Take care
	Andy
