Erik, Yamaha did burn me some new ROM Chips for my Dtxpress II modules that restored the choking function to inputs 1-8. If you really need it, you may want to contact Yamaha. I not sure if they will do it, but it doen't hurt to check. The clamping issue has been raised with Yamaha several times. What it comes down to is trying to hit a price point with the kit. For example, if the kit came with removable clamps would you have been willing to spend say $1200US on it compared to say $1000US. Once you have to spend $1200 on a kit, would you then be inclined to compare it with a $1500 kit that someone else makes and thus lose the sales altogether. The removable clamps do not come on any of the new Yamaha kits. I mentioned it to Yamaha that they should have at least offered a Dtxtreme IIStd with the non-removable clamps and a Dtxtreme IISpro (professional) with the heavy duty removable clamps. As I and many others would have paid more for the upgrade. But if only 3 percent of the folks that buy the kit are willing to pay $200 extra, it is probably not economical for them to produce two kit styles, when the majority would rather save the money and just deal with the inconvience of the clamps. Once the kit gets setup, they really only get moved around when you buy something new anyway. And the TP120Sd is a huge improvement of a TP65S. OGD _____ From: epvk_jahoe Subject: [DTXpress] new pads " Putting one PCY65S into 1 means I lose the choke function but that's a small drawback. " " And now I read that expanding the kit with a TP120S really is a huge step forward. Hmmmm, interesting....
