Steve,

Short answer: DTXchange allows you to back up your data in case of 
battery failure or the need to reset the module, which would erase 
all user parameters. It also allows you to store any kits that won't 
fit into your user slots. The ability to exchange kits with other 
people eliminates the need to copy all of their settings into your 
module by hand, which would be tedious to say the least. But, as you 
seem to understand, you are limited to data specific to your 
particular module type; the DTXpress will not process external 
samples of any kind.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
