Hi,

Ed knows FAR more than I, but I had a similar problem...Like you, 
some of my kick hit's did not sound only about a year+ after I got 
my kit.
It turned out that after a LOT of fooling around with settings, I 
simply had a bad solder-joint on the little circuit board within the 
kick tower. Like Ed said, it's hard to see a bad solder joint 
sometimes. I resoldered the connection and it's been fine ever since 
for about 2 or 3 years now. The solder at the factory was on the 
light side for a unit that takes such a beating. I made sure I 
had  'plenty' of solder so it would not likely happen again...Use 
common sence though. 
I've read other's here having a solder-joint issue for their kick 
towers.
But by all means, try your settings first:) easier yet, maybe if you 
have a 2nd kick tower around try using that!
