Re: Expanding My Rack System...Extra Long Tubing Available?

2005-01-14 by zapaxe

Hi and thanks,

I've been checking ebay for a long time for deals on used DTXpress
components etc...That's where I bought my 2nd Yamaha DTXpress rack
used from.
I've also looked many times at Drumbalya, but I've not noticed any
VERY long tubes for racks. What I was proposing to do is have two
very log rack tubes (longer than ANY DTXpress rack tube I've seen,
so I can have a tall center section rack without having to have to
use some sort of couplers as I'm doing now. I can actually see the
tube slightly lean at the coupling joint. When I add a load to this
weightwise, it'll be worse:(
I'll have another look at Drumbalya to see if I've missed something
other than the 'standard' tube lenths.

If not, I'm wondering who carries aluminum tubing in extremely long
lenths? Not Home Depot, Nlot Lowes, Not Orchard Supply Hardware...I
guess a specialty metal shop oof sorts. But as I said, I beive that
electrical EMT tubing/conduit is about the same outside diameter. If
nothing else, I'll give that a go! Don't know how much aluminim
tubing would cost in it's raw state...?

Steve
