To the extent that Roland and Yamaha modules conform to the General 
MIDI standard, they can be used to access each other's General MIDI 
patches and note numbers, for percussion or anything else. However, 
Roland and Yamaha modules differ in their utilization of MIDI channel 
10, the traditional repository for electronic drum sounds. You cannot 
transport their sounds/kits from one module to the other via software 
like DTXchange. Did I get the question?
