Alan,

Why not just make a MIDI connection? If you don't have a soundcard 
that permits it, you could always get a Soundblaster type that 
accepts a MIDI adaptor on the joystick port for not much money, or 
you could get a small MIDIman USB MIDI interface and do it that way. 
I've heard that Yamaha's To Host cable is hard to find.
