We have an extensive archive about the various iterations of the DTXpress, but the short answer is that the difference between the II and IIISTD is slight. The III has some updated cymbal voices from Yamaha's Motif synth line. Otherwise, they share the same basic features and upgrade path. If you're on a budget, and a II in good condition is available to you at the right price, you'd probably be doing yourself a favor. Make sure that the KP-65 kick isn't damaged; it is subject to wear both inside and out if played without some extra protection on the pad itself. If you have any direct questions, post them. By the way, give my regards to Brown8700. Ed
