RE: Spam:[DTXpress] Re: Yamaha DIY EDrums, Discrete Trigger Box

All,

The box certainly works once you spend a little time tweaking it and is
a great way to add some extra pads. The only down side is that you can't
strike both pads at one time that are connected to one input. This is not
a limitation of Keith's design, but rather a limitation with the module
(in fact with anybody's module.) As long as that limitation is
understood, it would be a great way to upgrade and add extra pads. I
have not sent out the box, it was going out today and I held it up once
I saw your post, figuring we may want to redirected it to Ed Morin.
Keith have you settled on a price point for the box? I know there were
some discussions about this early on, but do you have a price point in
mind?

For me personally with having the Dtxtreme IIS modules, I would like to
see a box that could take a stereo pad and convert it two mono inputs,
so that some of the upper mono inputs could be used with stereo pads.
But I am not sure if that market would be any greater than for the
"magic box" as it is currently designed.

Just let me know which way you guys want to go.

ED, we could send out a "special notice" to all members here at dtxpress
and see what the interest level is, as it has come up from time to time
over the years.

Let me know how you want to go. If Ed Morin doesn't see this post, we
can forward it to him directly (or he would see it in the Special
Notice.)

OGD

Keith and OGD,

I'm replying in public, if you don't mind, because I'd like all
interested parties to know what's happening at this point, given how
much we've been dropping hits about the magic box for the better part
of a year. OGD was planning to send me some things this week. OGD, if
you haven't done so already, what do you think of me talking to Ed
Morin again about the magic box, too see if he'd still be interested
in checking it out. No one out in the e-drum world has his resources.
He can check the magic box's compatibility with a range of equipment,
as well as assess its performance against any similar electronics on
the market. His opinion about whether it would be worth selling would
be valuable, to say the least. OGD, from your experience, are you
agreeable?

Ed, if you're listening, I don't presume by any stretch of the
imagination that you have the time and energy for this request, but
I'd certainly like to ask you first. Keith and OGD, do you think that
pitching the box to an e-drum company would be worthwhile?

Ed
