After spending a frustrating while now trying unsuccessfully to get configured for the DTX brain to play multi-tracks from the sequencer (Cakewalk) I've finally taken a break and at least got an alternative system worked out: I've got a Yamaha SW60XG synth card that I controll with XGedit. So now at least I can play the DTX set and automaticly sort and record each pad to it's own (1-9)track in Cakewalk. Then, I play the drum sequence back to through SW60XG and can easily control each pad/track using XGedit. That means I can play back the drum track along with the rest of the mix and re-tune the snare on the fly until it sits in the mix right, adjust levels and pans, etc. Man, oh man! We need a piece of software like XGedit to control DTX, the little monster with the orange brain. Of course there aren't nearly as many drum sounds available on the SW60XG as on the DTX and I'll certainly continue to use DTX the more conventional way. But this is finally how I had immagined using DTX in the first place...
