The Roland should do, although it has one or two features that may be wasted on the DTXpress; Yamaha doesn't make one. See if you can find a used TMC-6, or check with Ed Morin at Drumbalaya.com if he has any in the bargain basement. An older module like a DTXPressI, Alesis DM 4 or 5, or Roland TD-whatever might even cost less, as would discontinued trigger to MIDI interfaces like the Aphex Impulse, Kat MIDIkiti, or Roland PM-16, which would be even more cost effective. All of these older T to M devices are/were wonderful units; the only drawback is that all of their inputs were mono--not necessarily a gamebreaker for an auxiliary trigger interface. The DTXpress Explorer module and the TD-3 are options for current modules in the bargain category. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Keith's invention again, which is in what looks to be its final stage of testing. If you can wait, it might be just the ticket.
