Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hey Josh,
We use a dtxpress in our church praise band, great kit for the money, but I 
find the cymbal(crash and ride) sounds are a bit wanting. It sounds ok 
through the pa mix and monitor when the soundman does his job(we have 4 that 
rotate weekends) otherwise you cant hear a thing, but that is not the fault 
of the dtxepress.
To awnser some of your questions:

1 I have used my tama iron cobra, double on the pad, it seems like a similar 
peddle to the yamaha. You have to move the beaters closer together, just so 
they dont hit each other. Maybe get a spare beater and bend it if you have 
to.
2 I dont think it would be possible to rig up the pads inside your drums. 
You will need to get triggers if you want to  trigger your regular kit. 
Yamaha makes triggers for this, about 25 bucks each, you have to play around 
with positioning on the head and adjust sensitivity accordingly, I tried it 
and it works.

3 No problem with sliding on a carpet, have not tried on hard surface floors

4 There is a website to make your own pads, I dont recall it anymore, maybe 
someone else knows. I made one from a remo practice pad, and stuck a yamaha 
trigger on it, and mount the pad in a snare stand, and I use this for the 
snare. The original snare pad is used for an extra tom or whatever.

5 We paid about 1600 dollars cnd for our church kit. Good kit for the bucks, 
but still I would rather sit behind my acoustic maple kit.
