It's there (Guyatone Speed Cable with Built in Volume Control). The
trouble is that it's out of stock for a month or so, the price has
increased, and MF sells it now in only 7 meter lengths at $60. So, go
intead to the Guyatone site
(http://www.guyatone.com/other/speedcable.html)
where you can get it through Godlyke Distributing in a 5 meter length
for less (but not much). Remember, you can cut a cheap cable and
splice a 250k pot into it yourself inexpensively. Whichever way that
you go, once the cable is active, set your gain at 99 and min.
velocity at 1; then adjust the slider on the cable until only your
hardest hits tip the scale at 99 and your soft hits are subtle enough
to satisfy you. I think one person on this board has tried the
Guyatone, but I don't recall who or when. As I said, I haven't tried
it, but a Guyatone rep. told me that it should work in this
application, unless the connection is digital (it ain't). You might
have to adjust the module's settings depending on the Guyatone's
resistance. If you don't like cable or drum, you should be able to
send them back within the 30-day mandated period. In that event, you
can always go back to the Yamaha, spend way too much money to try a
Roland, or--maybe better yet--try one of the new Yamaha DTXtremeIIS
pads. They're rubber but much easier on the joints.

The protrusion on the Pintech head is the foam column that transmits
the signal to the piezo below. It's standard on every center-mounted
Roland style mesh pad. Tighten the head until it flattens out, but be
careful of overtightening; you can strip the lugs.
