Hi ya, Yes it does matter, I had the same problem when I was tinkering and changed some plugs around, I assumed they would all be the same too but NO, sorry I cannot remember off the top of my head which is which but I know the bass and hi hat controller are different (those are the ones I swapped), you can tell which is which by looking at the plug ends, two black rings means stero and one means mono. I think the hi hat controller is the mono one.
