Haha > > --Matt Welcome :-) I started playing when I saw the local nightschool had a 'drumming' class. Couldn't believe it. Bought an old Simmons kit, before the Internet was so popular. Then I broke from it for a few years. I recently joined a band, bought the DTXpress, and found (by asking in the local music shop) a good tutor. That's been great, I'd recommend it. Incidentally, I gigged with the kit for the first time last week and it went down really well. That same music shop is run by a 'proper' drummer and he said "an electronic kit eh, have you gigged with it yet?" and then gave me a knowing look. Well, I bite my thumb at him! If you haven't worked out your amp yet, it's the most common question on here. The answer is you need a keyboard amp not a guitar one, Peavey KBs are the most common, but I went for the Behringer KX1200 and love it (although it's rather big and heavy). You need the range .. high for the cymbals, low for the bass drum kick. OK, so I strayed from my welcome, but since you're just starting I thought you might be interested in hearing my path. Have fun :-) J

Thanks J, You did help, because I was going to look at amps tonight and thought I could just grab whatever. I ll make sure I look at the keyboard ones instead.

Dunno about that, someone more knowledgeable than I will come back to you I'm sure. In the meantime, see if you can work out how to search the archives. However, all my cables arrived individually labelled so I know exactly what plugs into where. Best make sure that's right before thinking anything else might be wrong, I don't know if it matters (intuitively I'm thinking the crash, hi hat controller, bass drum, and snare would have stereo, the rest mono but that's without bothering to swing my chair around and have a look. Hi ya, Yes it does matter, I had the same problem when I was tinkering and changed some plugs around, I assumed they would all be the same too but NO, sorry I cannot remember off the top of my head which is which but I know the bass and hi hat controller are different (those are the ones I swapped), you can tell which is which by looking at the plug ends, two black rings means stero and one means mono. I think the hi hat controller is the mono one. Hope that helps rhys --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, john@j... wrote: > > Matt said > > My only problem now that I'm having is one that I saw someone ask > > about a > > couple days ago.
