1) Ride cymbal volume 2) Cymbal moving around 2) Headphone answer

Hi all,
Haven't been on for a few days, travelling for work...
1) Chris, great comments on the set. I've also been
having some problems with my ride cymbal volume.
I turned up the sensitivity (gain?) as well as the
screw underneath and it improved. It still seems so
"skip" a beat now and then, though. Another odd thing,
try hitting it right on the "Yamaha" logo. It comes
in loud and clear without missing at all. Very strange.
Giles, you fixed this seem to remember seeing that
Yamaha has some kind of doo-dad that stabilizes the
cymbal. Maybe in their website. I'll check it out. In
the meantime, I've gotten used to it...just by turning
up the screw, right? I'll keep playing with it. I think
it's a combo of gain, the screw, and voice volume.

2) My crash also rotates around but I've gotten used to
it. If you crank the wingnut down, it just stiffins the
feel, which you don't really want to do. I

3) I completely agree with you both on the headphone volume.
It's a band-aid fix. They screwed up. What's bizarre to
me is that you can crank the "songs" or your outside
source up so high, but not the drums you're playing.
Backwards, if anything. This is a really important problem
for someone who isn't lucky enough to have a P.A. or amp to
plug into. Some kid in his bedroom with the headphones on
(like in their print ad)is going to be pissed that he/she
can't crank it up.

I do hope that David at Yamaha keeps an eye on this list.
I work in product development and would absolutely love to
see this kind of stuff from people who are really giving my
gear the test. It's free alpha testing...
Giles, there has to be a fix for the playback problem.
Something's muted or there's a hidden volume setting that's
turned down. Maybe try Yamaha?

I'm going to leave the MIDI stuff up to you all. I don't even
know how to import a song. I guess I need a cord or something?!
Where can I go on the web to get the basics? I'd like to use
the technology.

I'll be back,
Rick
