Re: MIDI

1999-11-13 by Giles Hearn

Well, I've tried the MIDI dump to my PC and guess
what?
Nothing.
I did a bulk dump of all the data with a lead hooked
up from the MIDI Out to the PC. This lead works fine
with my Evolution MK-149 master keyboard coz I have a
little MIDI monitor app. that shows all the data
coming in. But with the DTXpress, no data came pouring
in. Maybe it's because it doesn't have the standard
format (y'know Note On, Note Off etc.). Chris, did you
mention that you'd played along to some jazz MIDI
files you'd d/loaded? How did you set it all up?
I think I might need a HOST lead (serial to mini 8-pin
DIN) instead. The manual only reckons you need the
MIDI Out cable for bulk dumps to the Yamaha MDF3 and
doesn't mention using that method for spouting data
out to a PC. Any thoughts?

On the subject of problems - trying Yamaha might be an
idea. Anyone know the tech. support number or email
address? Is it right to contact our friend Dave at
Yamaha?

See ya.
