Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

A little background...I have a DTXpress III at home and our church has 
a Roland kit with the mesh type heads for all triggers.  For anyone 
who's played both kits; have you noticed a difference between the two 
bass drum triggers?  I seem to be able to produce smoother and faster 
strokes on the Yamaha than on the Roland.  Doesn't seem to matter which 
pedal I use (basic Pearl pedal, Iron Cobra, or Flying Dragon direct 
drive).  Any suggetions for making the Roland trigger seem more like 
the Yamaha?  Thanks.
