The limitations are: 1. you will not be able to get both voices simultaneously 2. the DTXpress is generally less sensitive to rim hits then hits to the main pad. This seems to be some deliberately function of the module. A more complex circuit with gain can improve the situation a little, but not eliminate it. 3. very small hits to the rim pad could be interpreted as a hit to the centre pad. It is probably best used to add cymbals and cowbells to the tom inputs, for example, where great subtlety is not required on the second pad. A bit of adjustment of the values can be beneficial, e.g. reducing R1 down to 10k for more sensitivity to rim hits, and D2 can be shorted out - it is mainly there for symmetry. Keith.
