Jeff was probably the preeminent session drummer of his day--following on the heels of studio icons like Hal Blaine and Jim Gordon--and for good reason. He was Steve Gadd-like in his technique and in his ability to nail a part. Look him up on the All Music Guide to see the range of sessions that he played. You might well end up thinking that Toto, a band full of his relatives, comprised a small part of his accomplishments. If it were remotely possible to describe his talent in words, I might have given it a try. Give a listen.
